Literature Text

Hands and sweat went into making this dream,
But here it sits alone without a light's gleam.
The plumbing exposed much like our family enigma.
This house was once loved, leaving in my mind a stigma.

Out that window is a swing that use to sway,
We would lie amongst blankets during the day.

Here the yard sits isolated by the vines and brambles.
Black and white a home left in shambles.

A world of color is now in the monochrome of life.
Cheers of laughter taken away by moments of strife.
Dust covers and divides all that was cherished,
A sense of childhood innocence has been devoured and perished.

Pots scattered much like the love this home once felt,
A hallucination of the mind's eye and where we dwelt.
Wooden planks no longer hold a child's footsteps and pace,
But are covered in a past of mold, mallice, and is now debased.

It once felt love and it once felt joy,
But now it is nothing more than a broken down toy.
Everything sits in its place where it was left,
Because we didn't want to test the deft.

Long ago the pat of footsteps were heard,
Now the silence is deafening and absurd.
In this old house where love was an instinct,
You can feel that its desolate and extinct.

To come in and see what has come of this place,
And to know that the truth is a lot harder to face.
Seeing the life that is no longer shared,
Time and age went into transforming this nightmare.

In the doorway you can witness, loss of love and time gone by,
I stood there felt it and seen it with my own eyes
This old house is just a reminiscence of the contrast
And is nothing more than a self-subsistence of a broken past.
